Michael Gregory, the Security Guard/Caretaker, at the Next Step Center, did various speaking engagements across Somerset County to educate community members on homelessness and offer a positive success story. The following pictures were taken at various speaking events during November 2011 CLICK HERE.

The ROOF Committee also hosted an art and poetry contest this year to Somerset County schools. We were excited to have an amazing response this year.  Students were asked to “think outside the box” on homeless issues and ways that community members can reach out to assist. Elementary and middle school students participated in an art contest. High school students participated in a poetry contest.  We want to thank the schools for their participation and outreach to educate students on homelessness in Somerset County. Our VITA Program was honored with a trophy award for  BEST SUPPORTING PARTNER - VOLUNTEER TAX PREPARATION - SPEC PA-DE TERRITORY 2009.

Roofs Over Our Families will be hosting the National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week on November 14th-18th, 2011. This year we are excited to have expanded our events and awareness throughout Somerset County. Many schools, organizations, local businesses, and community entities have joined together to support this event and bring about awareness to the local issue of hunger & homelessness in Somerset County.
